Features and Benefits
NHS-dPEG®24-biotin is used extensively to label molecules that contain a free amine with biotin. The single molecular weight NHS-dPEG®24-biotin compound has a long spacer of precise length (97.7 Å) between the biotin moiety and the labeled molecule. This dPEG® spacer imparts a high degree of water solubility to the biotin label. For biotinylated peptides and proteins, the dPEG® spacer dramatically reduces aggregation and precipitation of the modified molecule and reduces non-specific binding of the molecule, both of which are common problems with molecules that have been biotinylated with the widely used NHS-LC-biotin.
General description
NHS-dPEG®24-biotin is a cross-linking reagent used in biotinylation reactions. The N-hydroxysuccinimidyl (NHS) moiety of NHS-dPEG®24-biotin forms a stable amide bond with free primary amines, such as the amines on the side chain of lysine. The biotin moiety is used in a variety of applications, including labeling, supramolecular building, affinity chromatography, pull-down assays, and the production of biotinylated antibodies.
